Haemodialysis waiting lists slashed in Vologda Oblast

With the completion of renovations to the haemodialysis unit at the Oblast’s Clinical Hospital, the needs of the region for kidney replacement therapy will be fully met.

On Tuesday, 24 June 2014 Deputy Governor Oleg Vasiliyev and representatives of the Department of Health, the Regional Development Corporation and JSC BODROST will visit the construction site.
In October 2013 the Regional Government signed an agreement under which the site of the Oblast’s Clinical Hospital was to host a renovated, 24-bed haemodialysis centre. JSC BODROST was to take on delivery of the project.
In order to implement the project the haemodialysis premises are to be leased to the investor to carry out the major renovations and replace the obsolete equipment. In March 2014 a 5-year lease was agreed with the contractor.
Work is currently being carried out according to the project plan: windows on the second floor of the unit have all been replaced, walls in the treatment rooms tiled and the floor covered in porcelain tiles, roofing repaired, skylights and doors placed on order. Major repairs to the ventilation system are 90% complete and consulting room wall repairs are also currently being completed. Repair work has started on the lower ground floor.

To compete the repair work at the unit, the dialysis machines will be completely replaced and their number will be increased by 50%, from 16 to 24, which will allow simultaneous treatment of 150 kidney patients, as well as monitoring and preparation for dialysis.

The re-working of the premises will, in the long term, provide for an increase in the number of dialysis machines to 30, and together with the Cherepovets and Velikiy Ustyug centres will fully meet the region’s need in terms of kidney replacement therapy.

The meeting will begin at 11am on 24th June at the Kidney Dialysis Unit of the Vologda Oblast Clinical Hospital, Lechebnaya St. 17, Vologda.
